The Seattle Seahawks on Saturday completed a blockbuster move, acquiring All-Pro safety Jamal Adams from the New York Jets.

For Adams, the Seahawks are sending a massive haul: starting safety Bradley McDougald, two first-round picks — one in 2021, the other in 2022 —and a third-round choice in next year’s draft. Seattle also gets a 2022 fourth rounder in addition to Adams.

The huge deal is pending physicals, the team announced.

Seattle believes Lewis’ SEC pedigree will help expedite his learning curve. He’s played against the nation’s top collegiate competition and on the biggest stages as a part of the Tigers national championship team.

Should everything go to plan, Lewis will be part of an overhauled offensive line that will be at least 60% brand new (and potentially 80% depending on whether or not Mike Iupati is able to win the job at left guard again).

“(Lewis) won’t take a backseat to anybody,” Pete Carroll said back on draft night. “He’s going to come in and battle for it. That’s part of the reason we took him. We want him to come in and battle to play. All of that competition will make us better.”

GM John Schneider called Lewis a “grown man.” Hopefully he’s also a quick learner given the absence of an offseason program, a diminished training camp, no preseason reps and a maximum of 14 padded practices.

To acquire one of the game's top defensive players, the Seahawks are sending to the Jets first and third-round picks in next year's draft, a first-rounder in 2022, and safety Bradley McDougald. Adams, 24, was the No. 6 overall pick out of LSU in 2017 and has started all 46 games he has played in his three-year career. Last season Adams recorded 75 tackles, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception, which he returned 61 yards for a touchdown.
